Coming off their second World Series victory in the past three seasons, there’s plenty of reason to be optimistic about the future in San Francisco. Bruce Bochy led the team to a 94-68 record and then straight through the Cincinnati Reds, St. Louis Cardinals, and Detroit Tigers on their way to winning it all. Buster Posey won a batting title and the MVP award. The pitching staff overall was strong enough to counter a poor year from Tim Lincecum and the Giants return with nearly the same group for another season.

SAN FRANCISCO (mlb.com) — If you can’t tell the Giants without a program, just use last year’s.

Of the 25 players on the postseason roster who propelled San Francisco to six consecutive victories in elimination games and its second World Series title in three years, 21 remain. Moreover, the lone Major League free agent the Giants signed from another team was outfielder Andres Torres, who performed for San Francisco from 2009-11.

Asked earlier this week to evaluate his ballclub entering Spring Training, Giants manager Bruce Bochy said, “I like where we are right now. I have to, because we pretty much have everyone back.”

Skeptics will maintain that, by standing still, the Giants are falling behind in the National League West. The Dodgers boast a highly paid, high-powered roster. Arizona added Brandon McCarthy to a solid pitching staff and Cody Ross to its lineup. Colorado hopes to have shortstop Troy Tulowitzki available all season. The youthful Padres should benefit from another year of experience.

The Giants have learned how to win. And if they need a reminder, Bochy will provide it.

“Your success is never final,” he said. “We know we have to move on and go to work.”

For the 26th consecutive year and 40th time overall, the Dial Global Radio Network will serve as the exclusive network radio home of the Super Bowl. Super Bowl XLVII takes place February 3rd, 2013 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.

Then at 12:00 PM PT, it’s “Super Bowl Preview”, with Scott Graham and Boomer Esiason, followed at 1:00 PM PT by “Super Sunday”, a one-hour live special that reflects on past Super Bowl and previews the upcoming game as well. “There was a lot of excitement this year” said Coordinator Dale Bridges. Bridges and his team of volunteers from many local governmental agencies, community groups as well as those from Eureka Broadcasting (the parent company of KEKA 101 Country) and from North Coast Boys and Girls Club’s Teen Center, had the event flowing almost flawlessly. “There are always areas that we can work on, Bridges shared, “but this year was really a fine collection of floats, community and enthusiasm for the Christmas season.”

A change this year is that the organization designated to receive the proceeds of this years event helped KEKA staff in the judging to determine the winning floats. This year’s entrants were judged in two categories (under 40-foot and over 40-foot). Those selected as the first place and second place winners received checks and plaques. This year’s winners were:

The sponsors of this year’s KEKA Christmas Truckers Parade were Coast Central Credit Union, Schmidbauer Lumber, Sudden Link Communications and Leon’s Car Care Center.

There will be a press conference in the upcoming weeks to award the check to the Betty Qwan Chinn Community Center to be used for acquisition of computer equipment in the new facility for the use by homeless children. In the past, many of the cash awards have also been presented by the winners to the beneficiary of the event and at the event, the Timber Heritage Association handed their check over to Betty.
