2015 Trucker’s Parade Winners
2015 KEKA Truckers Christmas Parade A Joyful Success!
This year’s KEKA Truckers Christmas Parade was a great success with over 60 participants and in spite of rough weather, thousands of folks crowded the streets of Eureka for the annual event.. The proceeds of this year’s event were designated to the Eureka Police Department’s “Shop With A Cop” program for under-privileged youngsters in the area. “This year, it seemed as if there were quite a few larger floats, making the KEKA Truckers Parade even brighter” said Coordinator Dale Bridges. Bridges, assistant Omar Becerra and their team of volunteers from many local governmental agencies, community groups and the general public had the event flowing smoothly. “It was great that the parade had so many floats this year,” Bridges shared. The judges this year judged entrants in two categories (under 40-foot and over 40-foot). Those selected as the first place and second place winners received checks and plaques.
This year’s winners were:
1st Place – Humboldt Community Services District w/Santa and Mrs Santa in sleigh
2nd Place – Redwood Coast Trucking and their “Red and White Delight”
1st Place – Cal Trans
2nd Place – Timber Heritage Society
The Timber Heritage Society donated their prize winnings back to KEKA to present to the nonprofit selected.
The sponsors of this year’s KEKA Christmas Truckers Parade were Bear River Casino and Hotel, Schmidbauer Lumber, Sudden Link Communications and the Humboldt Waste Management Authority. Again this year, Don’s Rentals donated all the rental fees for generators used on the floats to the selected beneficiary – Shop With A Cop.
