2013 KEKA Truckers Christmas Parade A Wild Success
This year’s KEKA Truckers Christmas Parade was a great success with a significant increase in the number of participants and even more folks than normal crowded the streets of Eureka for the annual event.. This year’s event had an extra something special with the attendance by the Dominguez family from Oxnard, California with 3 year old Nolan leading the way.
“This was a quite a smooth event” said Coordinator Dale Bridges. Bridges, assistant Jim Ellis and their team of volunteers from many local governmental agencies, community groups and the general public had the event working as smooth as ever. “It was great that the parade had so many more floats than in the past years,” Bridges shared. The number of participants this year approached 80 with many registering in the last few days.
The judges this year included representatives of this year’s beneficiary, F.A.A.N. (Families Advocating Autism Now) and staff members from K.E.K.A. Again this year, entrants were judged in two categories (under 40-foot and over 40-foot). Those selected as the first place and second place winners received checks and plaques. This year’s winners were:
1st Place, Large Float Humboldt Community Services District
2nd Place, Large Float Humboldt Auto Transport (Girls Scouts)
1st Place, Small Float Darrell Baker Trucking (F.A.A.N. float)
2nd Place, Small Float Rob Johnson Trucking
The sponsors of this year’s KEKA Christmas Truckers Parade were Bear River Casino and Hotel. Schmidbauer Lumber, Sudden Link Communications and Covered California.
